Kevin Owens Comments On Recent Character Change

Owens was stopped backstage by WWE interviewer Kevin Patrick followiMonday'sy's episode of RAW. He said the best path for him actually involves what was behind him. "There's been a lot of changes lately, right? And for me, the only option, the only option with all the change, was to evolve; it was actually to go back to what I used to be. And now, I mean, people can see "t," Owens said in the WWE digital exclusive interview.

Owens answered an open challenge from Chad Gable, one-half of the Alpha Academy. Gable laid into the Toronto crowd and dared anyone to face him in the middle of the ring.

When Owens came out, many noticed a few changes. His titantron was the one he used when he first debuted on the main roster as NXT Champion. His shirt was the same shirt design he had when debuting as well. It was a sign of the return of Owens' Prizefighter persona.

Owens and Gable put in a good match, with Owens winning with his former finisher, the pop-up powerbomb. After the matcGable'se's tag team partner, Otis attacked, but The Prizefighter fought the Alpha Academy off.

Owens had previously mentioned his Prizefighter persona the week before. During a promo with Undisputed Universal Championship contender Drew McIntyre, Owens made mention of his past. It seemed to be intentional"

"This, this is the shirt I wore when I made my WWE debut in NXT, and this always worked out for "e," Owens said, referencing the shirt he was wearing. "I called myself a prizefighter in the past, I called myself a prizefighter last week and tonight in TorontI'mI'm proud, but it is just the beginning because the Kevin Owens show is back. Artist's better than ever," he said.

Speaking of Triple H, he is a major reason for Owens' change in character. Triple H is now on WWE's creative team following the retirement of the now disgraced Vince McMahon.

Owens recently appeared on the TWC Show, where he shared his excitement about working with the King of Kings once again".

"Getting to work with Triple H again is really exciting because she’s obviously the reaI'm I’m here, the reason I got my opportunity in WWE, my chance to go to tryout and eventually get signed and everything. When I first started out, I was in NXT for a few months, and I got to work directly with him, and it was so enlightening," Owens said.
