Maxwell Jacob Friedman returned to All Elite Wrestling back on September 4 at AEW All Out. He retrieved the poker chip at the end of the Casino Ladder Match to claim a future shot at the AEW World Championship.

After weeks and weeks of teasing a potential cash-in, we finally received an answer for when the Salt of the Earth will face the leader of the Blackpool Combat Club.

On Saturday, November 19, AEW will hold its annual Full Gear event. In front of a Newark, New Jersey crowd, MJF will face Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship.

MJF's Journey

On the first episode of Dynamite following All Out, the AEW World Championship was stripped from CM Punk. Punk was injured in his match against Moxley at All Out but was also involved in a brawl backstage after the show.

MJF kicked the show off with an over-the-top babyface promo, insincerely complimenting the crowd. He eventually dropped the act after being confronted by Moxley.

Over the next few weeks, MJF had a small run-in with Moxley's stablemate, Wheeler Yuta. The Salt of the Earth defeated Yuta in his first match back and nearly shook his hand after the match. However, MJF's "stable on retainer," The Firm, interveined.

MJF spoke the following week in a rather vulnerable way. He mentioned that he understood if people didn't like him because he also didn't like himself very much. However, he needed to be the bad guy in order to achieve his goal of becoming a World Champion.

Moxley's Journey

After Punk was stripped of the AEW World Championship, Moxley was entered into a Tournament of Champions for the vacant belt. He defeated Sammy Guevara in the semifinals of the tournament to advance to AEW Grand Slam.

There, he faced fellow Blackpool Combat Club member Bryan Danielson in the main event. It was a close fight, but Moxley overcame the American Dragon to win his third AEW World Championship.

He then began a feud with "Hangman" Adam Page, who won a World Championship match in his own right. Despite teases from MJF, Page and Moxley fought for the AEW World Championship on a special Tuesday episode of Dynamite.

Tuesday Dynamite

Prior to the main event between Moxley and Page, MJF confronted Blackpool Combat Club manager William Regal. He unleashed on The Villian, recalling the time Regal rejected him while with WWE.

Regal fired back, saying he wanted to light a fire under The Devil. He offered MJF the chance to strike him from behind, but MJF refused.

Moxley and Page put on a great match for the title. Unfortunately, the match ended prematurely due to a legitimate concussion suffered by Page on a botched bump.

After medical personnel pulled Page from the ring, MJF came out and once again teased cashing in the poker chip. However, he rolled out of the ring and grabbed a microphone.

The Salt of the Earth announced he would cash his chip in at AEW Full Gear. MJF spoke about earning the title for the first time in his life before the show ended.

Most Recent Developments

On the most recent episode of Dynamite, Moxley faced Penta El Zero Miedo for the title. Moxley wanted a definitive victory heading into Full Gear.

After retaining the title, Moxley was attacked by The Firm. However, MJF came out and fired the leader of The Firm, Stokely Hathaway. The two had issues regarding The Firm's actions in recent weeks.

Ethan Page and the rest of The Firm began attacking the Salt of the Earth. The group even put their former leader through a table. It seems as if AEW is leaning into the babyface reactions MJF has received as of late. However, only time will tell if a genuine face turn is on the horizon.
